Why we bridge here
Honduras holds two of the most rewarding experiences in Central America: the Maya ruins at Copán, and the Garifuna villages of the Caribbean coast where the drums were declared a UNESCO masterpiece of oral heritage.
The Garifuna people, descended from West African and Carib ancestors, arrived on this coast in 1797 and kept their language, their songs and their cooking intact. Inland, Copán was a major Maya city, and its carved stelae are among the finest of the ancient world.
