São Paulo
Brazil
The largest city in the Americas, in every direction at once.
The culture
Why we bridge here
São Paulo is a city of twenty million people and no beaches: instead it has museums, the best restaurant scene in South America, immigrant neighbourhoods and a street-art culture that covers whole blocks.
São Paulo was built by immigrants — Italian, Japanese, Lebanese, Bolivian and Northeastern Brazilian families — and each left a neighbourhood and a kitchen behind. There are more Japanese-descended people in this city than in any city outside Japan.
